I’ve been a lover of podcasts for many years and have allows appreciated their importance as a unique storytelling format. During my time at Discover Durham, I thought a podcast would be a great medium to share why Durham, NC is a great place to visit.

During my time at the helm, we acquired more than 5,500 downloads and were named INDY Week’s Best Local/Regional Podcast of 2023.

Interview with Scott Ellsworth, Author of The Secret Game

One of the most important parts of Durham’s history is The Secret Game. The event was the first integrated basketball game in the Jim Crow South. Scott Ellsworth is the primary historian when it comes to this subject and I was thrilled to get the chance to interview him.

The most diverse group of lemur species outside of Madagascar is right here in Durham, North Carolina. I spoke with Sara Sorraia, Director of Communications, about their research, what makes lemurs so fascinating, and what visitors can expect from a trip to the center.

Did you know that Durham has a curling club? That’s a pretty rare sight in the Southeast. One thing I love about Durham is how surprising it is and how unique the attractions are for a mid-size city. I chatted with Trevor Gau, a member and volunteer, and learned so much about the sport and community.
